Terms of Use

These terms are the agreement between you and LitLab for the use of litlab.app(“LitLab”). By creating an account or reading on the site, you accept them. We have tried to keep them short and readable.

What LitLab is

LitLab publishes literary works that are in the public domainand presents them alongside original visual material we create for each edition — maps, character portraits, relationship charts and illustrated scenes. The classic text is humanity's; the visual universe around it is ours.

Your account

• You need to be at least 13 years old to create an account.
• Give us a real e-mail address — it is how we get you back in if you lose your password.
• Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account; tell us immediately if you suspect someone else is using it.
• One account per person. Sharing credentials so several people can read on one subscription is not allowed.
• You can delete your account at any time.

Free reading and paid access

• Some books are free and open to everyone.
• For the rest, the first chapter is a free preview. Reading on requires an active subscription or the purchase of that book.
• Prices are shown before payment. We may change them for the future, never retroactively for a period you have already paid for.

Subscriptions, billing and cancellation

• Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. Payments are processed by Stripe.
• You may cancel whenever you like. Access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for; we do not charge a cancellation fee.
• Refunds: if something goes genuinely wrong — you were charged twice, the service was unavailable, the content did not work — write to us and we will sort it out. Consumer rights under your local law always apply and are not affected by these terms.
• If a payment fails, we may suspend access to paid content until it is settled.

What you may do with the content

Read it, enjoy it, download the ePub and PDF of the books you are entitled to, and keep them for your personal use. That is what they are for.

What you may not do

• Redistribute, resell or republish the artwork and the LitLab editions — the illustrations, layouts and visual universes are original works protected by copyright and belong to LitLab.
• Scrape the site, use bots or automated collectors, or bulk-download the catalogue.
• Share your account so that people who have not paid can read, or circumvent the paywall by any technical means.
• Attack, overload or probe the service, or try to reach data that is not yours.
• Use LitLab for anything illegal.

Note the distinction: the original literary texts are in the public domain and nobody — including us — can restrict what you do with them. Our rights cover the illustrations, the editorial presentation and the platform itself.

Availability

We aim to keep LitLab running around the clock, but we cannot promise it will never be interrupted. We may perform maintenance, change features, or add and remove titles from the catalogue. If we remove a book you specifically purchased, we will refund it.

Ending the agreement

You may stop using LitLab and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms — particularly for content piracy, scraping or payment fraud. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will warn you first.

Liability

LitLab is provided as it is, for reading and enjoyment. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or incidental damages, nor for loss arising from interruptions beyond our control. Nothing here excludes liability that the law does not allow us to exclude — including your rights as a consumer.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top always reflects the current version, and if a change is significant we will let you know by e-mail before it takes effect.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Brazil. Any dispute will be brought before the competent courts there, without prejudice to any protection you are entitled to as a consumer in your own country of residence.
