`The Hideous Face` first appeared in Weird Tales, Volume 1, Number 2, published in April 1923. This LitLab edition preserves Victor Johns's compact horror story as a three-part reading arc: a Marseilles cafe encounter, a remembered New England artist colony, and the return of an old revenge at the harbor.
