Genesis opens with the shaping of a world and follows families through gardens, journeys, promises, rivalry, migration, and memory. Its fifty chapters move between vast images and intimate household moments: a garden, an ark, a night sky, a well, a coat, and a cup.
This edition follows the King James Version, an English translation first published in 1611. The source does not credit one historical author for Genesis. The translation was a collective scholarly work; that fact does not identify the original author of Genesis.
Each chapter has a recap that becomes available when you finish that chapter. The online gallery adds full-page scenes, maps, character portraits, and one symbolic card for every chapter. A Who's Who at the back identifies the people and role figures followed in the text. Begin with the text, and let the pictures open as you read.
