Percy E. Newberry’s Scarabs is a 1908 reference work on Egyptian seals and signet rings. It moves from the forms and uses of seals to a catalogue of illustrated examples across many periods.

Newberry wrote from the perspective of early twentieth-century Egyptology. Read his descriptions and historical interpretations as a record of scholarship in its own time, not as a substitute for current research. The original text and its terminology are preserved in this edition.

The reader keeps Newberry’s own section headings as its navigation points inside one complete book. They are not separate volumes. This edition does not impose a new chapter structure on the work.
